Court To Deliver Judgment Over Certificate Forgery Suit Against Ben Kalu Today

 

UMUAHIA – A spokesman for the House of Representatives, Benjamin would today know his fate over Certificate Forgery suit as a High Court sitting in Umuahia, Abia State capital is expected to deliver judgment on the post-election matter.

Presiding Justice O. A. Chijioke had on 4th August 2021 reserved 23rd August to deliver Judgment in a suit of Certificate Forgery against the member representing Bende Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representa­tive, Barrister Benjamin Kalu.

He announced the date to deliver Judgment on the suit, Justice Chijioke after receiving written and adopted addresses from Counsels to the Claim­ant, Okay Ezeala, Chief Okay Amaechi (SAN) and Defence to Ben Kalu, K. I Nwaoffor (SAN) during its last sitting.

While Chief Amaechi urged the Court to consider the plea of the Claimant as the defence counsel, Nwaoffor urged the High Court to dismiss the suit with cost awarded to Defen­dant.

Recall that the claimant and All Progressive Con­gress (APC) chieftain, Hon. Okey Ezeala had approached the Court in a Suit Number, HU/265/2020 to determine whether somebody who does not have a valid school or pri­mary school certificate can contest an election to Bende Federal constituency and in­deed any other constituency across the federation.
