Solicitors to developer, Ms. Uzoamaka Onukwubiri, have dismissed as false a viral social media report alleging she was remanded at Suleja Custodial Centre for forgery.
In a statement, Chief Joel Okoli of Acacia Law Firm urged the public to disregard the “baseless and misleading” publication, which began circulating at t6he weekend.
The report claimed Onukwubiri, managing director of SOW Real Estate Nigeria., was put in custody for a criminal matter.
Okoli clarified his client was granted bail and was never taken into remand. “As we speak, even as on November 21 when the false news was making rounds, she slept in her house and is going about her normal business,” he said.
He sais the report is a smear campaign orchestrated by rivals in the real-estate sector allegedly uncomfortable with the growth and accomplishments recorded by SOW in a short period.
The firm also distanced itself from a name mentioned in the report. He said neither SOW Real Estate nor its managing director has any relationship with a purported defence counsel, identified as “Joel Okoro,” who was claimed to have represented the company in court.
“For the records, the management of SOW Real Estate Nig. Ltd. states that their lead counsel is Chief Joel A. N. Okoli, Esq., of ACACIA LAW FIRM, who clearly and correctly announced appearance in court,” the statement read.
Chief Okoli further explained that the criminal charge in question FHC/ABJ/CR/205/2025 is still pending before Hon. Justice Musa Liman of the Federal High Court, Abuja, and has not yet been determined.
He criticised the publication of the false report, calling it “a high degree of recklessness and desperation” for any media house to circulate defamatory material without due investigation.
The law firm urged the public to rely on verified information and avoid being misled by unsubstantiated social-media claims.
