The three suspects accused of the murder of 22-year-old Nigerian student and e-hailing driver, Isaac Satlat, appeared in court for the first time on Monday.
Dikeledi Mphela, Goitsione Machidi, and McClaren Mushwana, facing charges of murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances, were apprehended last week in connection with the killing of Satlat.
The suspects reportedly abandoned bail and were brought before the Pretoria Magistrate amid heavy security. Footage from the courtroom showed the trio entering the proceedings, marking their first public appearance since their arrest.
According to police reports, the accused include a 25-year-old woman (arrested February 13) and two men aged 26 and 30 (arrested over the weekend). They face additional charges including car hijacking and related offenses.
The attack occurred on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, in Pretoria West. Satlat had accepted a ride request, but dashcam footage captured passengers — initially described as a male and female, strangling and assaulting him inside the vehicle.
His body and the hijacked car were later found dumped in Atteridgeville the same day.
Authorities confirmed that the viral video evidence was key to tracking down the suspects. A fourth suspect remains at large, and a manhunt is ongoing.
