GOODWILL MESSAGE
I warmly commend the leadership and members of the Young Lawyers Forum, Nigerian Bar Association, Maiduguri Branch, for the initiative and foresight in organising the 2026 YLF Summit.
The theme “Empowering the Next Generation of Lawyers: Building Competence, Resilience and Relevance in a Changing Legal Landscape” is both timely and profound. It speaks directly to the realities confronting young lawyers today: a profession evolving rapidly, shaped by technology, economic pressures, global best practices, and rising expectations of service, ethics, and impact.
The future of the Bar depends not only on knowledge of the law, but on adaptability, professional competence, ethical grounding, and the resilience to thrive amid change.
Platforms such as this Summit are therefore essential in equipping young lawyers with the tools, mindset, and networks required to remain relevant and effective advocates for justice.
I particularly applaud the YLF Maiduguri Branch for sustaining intellectual engagement and professional development in a region whose resilience continues to inspire the nation. Your commitment to growth, learning, and unity reflects the very spirit of the Nigerian Bar Association.
I encourage participants to engage fully, share ideas freely, and leave this Summit better prepared to contribute meaningfully to the profession and to society.
I wish all the participants of the Summit fruitful deliberations and lasting impact.
Aare Olumuyiwa Akinboro, SAN.
