2 Days to Go: Prominent Figures to Address Gender-Based Violence at FIDA Lagos Law Week

COUNTDOWN TO FIDA LAGOS [2023] LAW WEEK BEGINS

The countdown to the FIDA Lagos [2023] Law Week has now entered its peak. As the clock ticks towards the opening ceremony of what promises to be one of the most significant events in recent times, FIDA Lagos has unveiled its Keynote Speaker and array of speakers scheduled to speak at the Law Week.

The event, slated to hold between Tuesday 31st October, and Friday 3rd November, 2023 at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs [N.I.I.A], and the Lagos Oriental Hotel both in Victoria Island promises to highly informative, educative and entertaining.

A major highlight of the Law Week is the opening ceremony which will host a diverse range of speakers who will shed light on the harm perpetrated against a person or group of persons because of3 their gender identity. The opening ceremony will hold at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Kofo Abayomi, Victoria Island on Tuesday, 31st October 2023 by 10:00am,
Mrs. Uwa Ohiku, will deliver the keynote address on the topic, “Gender Based Violence – Stemming the Tide” .

The lineup of speakers will be headlined by the likes of Prof. Virgy Onyene, Mr. Ebun Adegboruwa (SAN), and Mr. Olumide Kayode-Omosebi while Mrs. Titilola Akinlawon, SAN will anchor the discussion session.

Mr. Adegboruwa, SAN, will speak to the topic ‘Justice and Preventative Intervention for Victims of Gender-Based Violence’. His presentation will be followed by that of Prof. Virgy Onyene who will highlight ‘The Impact of Gender-Based Violence on Socio-Economic Development of Nigerian Women’, whilst Mr. Omosebi will enlighten us on what happens next to “Survivors of Domestic Violence”.
